Cary Grant was born on 18th January, 1904 in Bristol, England. He was born as Archibald Alexander Leach. His father, Elias was working in a clothing factory and mother, Elsie was a short, slight woman with olive skin.

His early years in Bristol, England, would have been an ordinary lower-middle-class childhood except for one extraordinary event. Cary Grant had unhappy and confused childhood. At the age of 9, his mother was removed to a mental institution. He was not aware about this and also his father never told him the truth about his mother. After 20 years, he knew that she was still alive.

Cary Grant was married five times in life. In 1934, he married with Actress Virginia Cherrill and divorced in 1935. After this he married with Woolworth heiress Barbara Hutton in 1942 but this marriage life also end in 1945. Then Actress Betsy Drake (1949-62), Actress Dyan Cannon (1965-68), and lastly Barbara Harris (1981-86). Cary Grant had one child Jennifer Grant, was born in 1966 by his forth wife, Actress Dyan Cannon.

In 1923, Cary Grant began on stage and In 1932, he made his first film "This is the Night". He was a leading star up to 1966. Some of his movies include:

Cary Grant suffered a severe stroke and died in the hospital, on 29 November 1986. On 26th November 1984, he wrote his will that his body was to be cremated and no funeral service held. According to his will, his body was cremated and his cremated ashes were given to his family. His ashes were scattered in the Pacific Ocean.
