His father, David Christensen is of Danish and English descent and his mother, Alie Nelson is of Swedish and Italian descent. Hayden enjoys lasagna, architecture, and pizza and is allergic to bees. Hayden Christensen grew up playing competitive hockey and tennis. He was a "ball boy" at the Canadian Open tennis matches. Hayden supports Manchester United Football Club.

Hayden Christensen gained international fame for the role of Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars films. George Lucas was the director of this movie.
