Teri Hatcher - Biography
Teri Hatcher (Teri Lynn Hatcher) was born on 8 December 1964, in Sunnyvale, California, outside of San Francisco. Her father Owen, is a nuclear physicist and mother Esther is a computer programmer. She is the only child to her parents. Hatcher has attended Fremont High School in Sunnyvale and Mango Junior High School. Teri took ballet lessons at the San Juan Girls' Ballet Studio in downtown Los Altos, California, while took acting lessons at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Teri also has earned mathematics and engineering degree from De Anza College in Cupertino, California. Before her acting career, Teri also has worked as a cheerleader with the San Francisco 49ers. Teri made her acting debut with Aaron Spelling's last season of "Love Boat (1985-1986)". Teri later appeared on ABC show "MacGyver" from 1986 to 1990. Since then Teri has appeared on many TV shows including CBS shows "Night Court (1987)", "Karen's Song (1987)", "Baby on Board (Fox, 1988)", "L.A. Law (1989)", "Quantum Leap (1989)", "Tales from the Crypt (1990)", "Murphy Brown (1990)", "Sunday Dinner (Fox, 1991)", "The Brotherhood (ABC, 1991)", and "Seinfeld". Teri got a break in films with the 1989's comedy "The Big Picture". After that Teri was cast with supporting and comic roles in "Tango and Cash (1989)" with Sylvester Stallone, "Soap Dish (1991)" with Whoopi Goldberg, and "Straight Talk (1992)" with Dolly Parton. A thriller "Dead in the Water" was her another 1991 project. Teri came to fame with her role of Lois Lane alongside Dean Cain in "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" in 1993. It was her one of the major project in her career till date. Teri next appeared in many films including "Brain Smasher. . .A Love Story" (1993), "All Tied Up" (1994), "Heaven's Prisoners" (1996), a crime drama "2 Days in the Valley" (1996). Teri's 1997 projects include David Schwimmer's "Since You've Been Gone" (1997), a James Bond film "Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)". In 1999, Teri moved to theater and played Sally Bowles in the U.S. touring company of the 1996 revival production of the Kander & Ebb musical "Cabaret". She was also appeared in Radio Shack commercials along with NFL legend Howie Long. Teri's 2000's projects includes a made for TV movies: "Running Mates (2000)", "Say Uncle (2001)", "Jane Doe (2002)", and "Momentum (2003)". She was also appeared in "Spy Kids (2001)", and "The Chester Story (2003)". Year 2004 is waiting for her with a another big hit "Desperate Housewives". Teri was played a role of the neighborhood's romance-minded single mom, Susan Mayer. For her role in "Desperate Housewives", she was honored by Golden Globe award as Best Actress in a Television Series (Musical or Comedy). As of April 2006, she is one of the highest paid Television personalities in US. For every episode of Desperate Housewives, Teri earns $380,000. Teri also has written a book "Burnt Toast: And Other Philosophies of Life", which was released in May 2006 and published by Hyperion.
